The Technical Specialist role demands an in-depth expertise in propulsion system and driveline torque transfer components and must be a technical expert in automatic transmission, manual transmissions and driveline systems architecture design and will require experience and strong knowledge and background designing and new design proposals of torque transfer systems, powerflow systems and designing architectures and cross-sections for automatic transmissions and EDM gear reducers.

The candidate will lead technical solutions in their field of expertise to ensure the best technical and economic positioning of the company in relation to the competition, contribute to the prospective vision of the field of expertise and carry out benchmarks, suggest KPIs for their field of expertise, develop innovative technical solutions by significantly developing products or industrial processes, will ensure the technological intelligence for their area of expertise. The candidate will be capable of suggesting effective solutions to resolve any technical problem in their area of expertise, Take part in decision-making bodies when necessary (technical reviews, project milestones, will lead the management and sharing of knowledge through teaching in their field of expertise (knowledge capitalization documents, internal network coordination, etc.) and train the specialists in their technical field of expertise. The candidate will understand the best practices in their field of expertise, and they contribute in terms of technical solutions to enhance reference systems of knowledge and know-how in their field of expertise. Contribute to or put forward the technical policy for their specific field of expertise.

Skills are recognized in their field of expertise, their advice and opinions have a bearing on technical choices in their field of expertise and will actively contribute to the network of expertise and organize internal conferences and communications for their field of expertise, Work is published in scientific/specialist magazines and/or external communications, will take part in bodies at national level or international level, where relevant (standardization, professional)

The candidate will provide technical support and leadership within the automatic transmission product release center engineering team for given propulsion system components and will function in the following areas:




  • Subject matter expert in architecture design
  • Provide technical direction to design, manufacturing, suppliers on meeting the requirements with the most effective design at the lowest cost
  • Lead Trade-Off Studies (TOS) to balance and optimize system requirements (cost, mass, FE, performance)
  • Lead and ensure key components design best practices, lessons learned and continuous improvements are followed and integrated into product design release process


  • Lead technical infrastructure lead for key components, documentation, specifications, requirements definitions and drawing signoffs for key supplied components


  • Lead and/or support all engineering topics needing this domain expertise.


  • Promote intellectual property identification and development


  • Coaching, training and mentoring less experienced engineers

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of architecture design and release for automatic transmission and gear reducer systems for electric drive modules
  • Demonstrate significant analytical and virtual analysis design experience
  • Experience and strong knowledge and background designing torque transfer systems, powerflow systems and designing architectures and cross-sections for automatic transmissions and EDM gear reducers
  • Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership teams
  • Ability to travel globally to suppliers


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Working level experience with suppliers of automatic transmission and EDMs
  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt DFSS certification
