POSITION SPECIFICS

Join our innovative team as an Information Technology (IT) Consultant and play a vital role in improving access to sexual assault forensic examinations (SAFEs) through telehealth technology (teleSAFE).

About the Position

Established in 2016, theSexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth (SAFE-T) Systemconnects rural and underserved communities to expert Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) for live telehealth support during forensic examinations. Our program has conducted over 400 telehealth-supported forensic examinations during the past 8 years, and we continue to grow our service base regionally and nationally.

The IT Consultant will play a vital role on the SAFE-T team, supporting diverse technology initiatives that align with and further the program's mission.

SAFE-T System is housed within Penn State's Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing. This position is a full-time, on-campus, non-telecommuting/non-remote position, located at the University Park Campus in State College, Pennsylvania.

Primary duties include:

  • Working with teams to identify telehealth technology needs (e.g., networking, hardware, software) and assessing the feasibility of specialized requests like data security and handling. Evaluating, trialing, and recommending hardware and software solutions.

  • Responding to client and team requests for technical support and specialized guidance. Completing SAFE-T System risk assessments and working with hospital clients to implement SAFE-T System within their facility.

  • Responding to incidents, troubleshooting, and escalating concerns as needed. Assisting with contingency planning and implementation of contingency plan if situation requires. Once incident has been resolved, participating in after-action review and root cause analyses.

  • Preparing, configuring and deploying computer and hardware systems and software solutions.

  • Developing and delivering end-user training related to SAFE-T System technology and/or software applications.

  • Maintaining documentation related to SAFE-T System IT operations and configuration. Contributing to development of support materials like graphical representations (e.g., flow charts, presentation slides), visual guides, technology FAQs, one-page infographics, and web updates.

  • Managing iOS configuration and setup of SAFE-T Apple and Mac devices. Testing latest iOS version updates with SAFE-T System app and pushing updates to devices as needed.

  • Contributing to data security efforts including but not limited to user account setup and management; monitoring access requests to sensitive data; maintaining logs of staff IT compliance training due dates and completion; monitoring data upload, download, and deletion; maintaining password vault; and keeping SAFE-T System data security plan up to date.

  • Working with SAFE-T suppliers and contractors to purchase IT supplies, software, and hardware. Coordinating shipment and delivery of supplies to clients or to SAFE-T. Work with Penn State Purchasing as needed. Maintain IT inventory logs.

This position will report to the SAFE-T System Director of Information Technology and Telehealth Solutions and will collaborate with all members of the SAFE-T System core leadership team.

Occasional travel is expected about four to five times per year. Most travel will be same-day travel within Pennsylvania, but occasional travel out-of-state is likely in the future.

In addition, this position may require working an infrequent evening or weekend to troubleshoot or resolve an urgent IT issue, when there is a major deliverable due, or when SAFE-T has an event or training to host/attend.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarization with best practices in service management

  • Excellent commitment to customer service, problem-solving analysis, and critical thinking skills

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly and independently

  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player

The preferred candidate will have specialized experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • IBM BigFix and/or JAMF; use of remote tools

  • Apple Scripting

  • Diagnosing desktop environments in MacOS (primarily) and Windows

  • Ensuring proper operation of network hardware and firewall setup

  • Software packaging, deployment, and license management

  • Experience with health IT and/or data security

  • Multimedia skills or experience

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
