About this Role - Senior Project Accountant

We are looking for a talented Senior Project Accountant who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for providing accounting, project controls and operational support to the Minnesota Region within MJ West.

What You'll Do

- Develops, analyzes, and interprets accounting, financial and job costing information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness.

- Analyze and interpret monthly EcoSys Forecast Reports for reasonableness.

- Analyze Regional Income Statements and communicate results to operations.

- Work with Operations to prepare and analyze monthly time-phased revenue and profit forecasts.

- Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, contracts, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses and make appropriate recommendations.

- Timely and accurate reporting of the financial deliverables included in the annual deliverable schedule and at the request of regional and corporate management.

- Assist Operations with month-end reporting to determine profit variances/accuracy.

- Provide support in the preparation and evaluation of annual financial budgets and business plans.

- Work with Project Managers to appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines, and objectives.

- Work with Project Managers to support construction activity traceability, ensuring projects are tracked with reliable reporting, budget, and schedule.

- Monitor cost/schedule performance through monthly progress updates and detailed variance analysis. Analyze impacts of variances and establish corrective actions as needed.

- Promote and develop common systems and processes to provide for reporting project costs, customer billing, scheduling, documentation, and budgeting.

- Compile monthly customer reports as requested and facilitate customer audit requests.

- Meet monthly/quarterly forecast goals.

- Oversee and assist with input of contracts, cost budgets, change orders, and purchase orders into JDE.

- Work with Project Managers to process & track change orders (both internal & external).

- Monitor Accounts Receivable aged trial balance.

- Provides support to Operations and other departments as needed.

- Some travel to jobsites may be necessary for coordination with project teams and customers.

- Travel to the corporate office on a consistent basis is required if based out of a regional office. Initial travel for training and onboarding will be expected at a greater frequency.

What You'll Bring

- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods.

- Ability to collect and assemble data for the development of financial reports.

- Extensive project controls skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects.

- Proven communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent computer skills including a familiarity Microsoft Office and JDE.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

- 5+ years financial experience in a construction environment is required.

- Equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
