Metals Plant General Manager Summary: Directs manufacturing operations for the Special Metals Cannon-Muskegon site. The GM will build and develop the operations organization, as well as processes and procedures to support strategic direction. The General Manager will establish operations initiatives for improvement in safety, delivery, quality, cost, and employee relations. Essential Functions: Establishes operations standards for safety, on-time delivery, quality, cost control, and waste reduction. Establishes manufacturing policies in Lean Manufacturing techniques, material usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and performance measures. Directs implementation and execution of manufacturing policies and continuous improvement practices throughout organization. Oversees the implementation of manufacturing schedules, manpower and facilities requirements, quality control, production, production control standards, and safety programs. Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy to meet the strategic objectives of the Cannon-Muskegon plant. Insures prompt and economical receipt of needed materials and supplies to ensure on time delivery of finished products to customers. Builds, develops, and manages manufacturing leadership team capable of carrying out needed manufacturing strategies and improving employee relations. Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Directs and oversees the operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements. Performs other senior leadership as needed by the business. Qualifications Competencies Extensive knowledge and training in product manufacturing Possess ability to provide leadership, communication, organizational, analytical & problem solving. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related/relative field. Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Process Improvement, freight and distribution, and production scheduling. 7-10 years plant management experience (metals industry preferred), with extensive experience with employee and leadership engagement initiatives Special Skills A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. An ability to think ahead and plan ahead over a 1-2 year time span. The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Manufacturing systems development and deployment.
