Job Summary

Research Data Analyst provides support to multiple grant-funded qualitative, mixed-methods, and ethnographic research projects within UCSF's Institute for Health Policy Studies supporting PI's grant-funded projects. The projects focus broadly on the experiences and needs of people with dementia and their caregivers and the workforce needs of their health care and long-term services and supports providers. Responsibilities vary by project and include involvement in the development of data collection instruments (surveys)/interview guides); building partnerships and conducting community engagement work with community and scientific advisory boards; coding and analysis of qualitative data; and contributions to manuscripts and conference presentations.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $126,900 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (PRL-IHPS) contributes to the solution of complex and challenging health policy problems through leadership in research, training, technical assistance, and public service. Our special competence lies in translating research across disciplines and fields to inform health policy. We undertake this work with a commitment to improve health and health care within local, state, national, and international communities and with a focus on improving the health of vulnerable populations.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience
  • A track record of sensitive, supportive, respectful and productive relations with community members, research participants, partnering clinic and organizational staff, and research team members
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality when interacting with patient participants or participating in other similarly sensitive discussions
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations

Preferred Qualifications


  • Ability to communicate in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English
