Status: Salary, exempt Job Description: Spectra Tech is seeking a mechanical engineer that will be responsible for developing high quality detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of various projects. Design involves the preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables including detailed bills of materials and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and other engineering deliverables. Candidate must effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task and will routinely provide input to the design and project team. Responsibilities will include performing walkdowns and generating design documents and providing field support during project implementation. This position will require applying technical expertise using a wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Qualifications 
   Lead Mechanical design engineering efforts on a multi-disciplined project design team and apply mechanical engineering expertise to the design and analysis of special purpose equipment, pressure vessels, and interfacing systems, controls, and structural support elementsPrepare or review complex calculationsReview simple mechanical systems / equipment designs, and prepare complex system / equipment designsPrepare documented design input for drawing production (i.e., P&IDs, machine layouts, general arrangements, etc.); Review design input for simple mechanical systems / equipment. Perform engineering review of drawingsPrepare or review equipment specifications; Prepare material specificationsPrepare bid evaluations for systems and components.    Qualified candidates will coordinate and perform mechanical design engineering activitiesPiping focus - work may include designing and modifying ASME B31.3 piping systems: equipment sizing and selection (pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, valves, etc.), pipe support sizing and selection, P&IDs, piping isometrics and layout drawings, as-built drawings, generating bill of materials and scopes of work supporting procurement and subcontractsCandidates will also support installation and startup of designs in the fieldThe ability to communicated with the craft and their supervision is critical |
