The manager oversees the daily operations of the iJay Store, an Apple Authorized Campus Store located in the Mike & Josie Harper Center on the Omaha Campus of Creighton University. The iJay Store is a unique retail environment supported by students enrolled in a two-semester course offered by the Heider College of Business. The manager has oversight of in-store and online sales to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and campus partners in the Creighton community. The manager is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service; holding product knowledge and expertise; controlling inventory levels; visual merchandising; managing store finances; and maintaining appropriate staffing through the recruitment, training, and supervision of student employees. Additional duties include mentoring students in collaboration with faculty and serving as an ambassador of the iJay Store, Heider College of Business, and Creighton University.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly manage and oversee in-store sales floor activity, delivering high quality staff engagement, product presentation, and customer interactions. Ensure that staff members are accessible, knowledgeable, and friendly. Prepare staff members to build relationships, while also handling sales transactions in a timely and efficient manner. Comply with visual merchandise standards for Apple products and other vendors, as appropriate.
- Directly manage and oversee online sales through Shopify e-commerce platform, ensuring that the store website mirrors the in-store experience in terms of accessibility, accuracy, and ease of navigation.
- Provide oversight for the store's financial management and ensure good financial health through budgeting, fiscal monitoring, and financial strategy. Collaborate with finance and accounting partners to accurately record daily transactions and revenue. Manage staffing and other operating expenses. Regular reporting includes end-of-day sales reports, deposit sheets, and credit card reports.
- Manage appropriate, season-dependent levels of product inventory to support in-store and online sales activity. Work with campus partners and vendors to order inventory. Conduct weekly Apple inventory reports and periodic physical inventory counts.
- With support of an Assistant Store Manager, maintain appropriate staffing through the recruitment, training, and supervision of student employees.
- In collaboration with faculty members, engage in and support students enrolled in the iJay Practicum course. Attend all class meetings, collaborate with faculty and students to determine ongoing projects, and serve as a mentor for students and student teams.
- Serve as an ambassador of the store within the Creighton community. Collaborate with schools, colleges, divisions, and campus partners to serve their technology and professional development needs. Participate in admissions and enrollment events to represent the store and provide guidance to prospective students and their families.
- Provide oversight for the tech repair program, including diagnostics and repair. Manage certifications, training, quality control, and customer service excellence in the repair process for Apple products.
- In collaboration with students in the iJay Practicum-and at times independently-plan, execute, and manage the store's marketing and communication program to current and prospective customers.

Education & Experience
- Hold a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of retail management experience.
- Preference for experience specific to the Apple brand, including certifications (Apple Certified Mac Technician, Apple iOS Certified Technician).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to oversee daily store operations, drive in-store and online sales, and ensure excellent customer experiences.
- Skill in recruiting, training, and managing student employees, while fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
- Knowledge of budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting to maintain strong fiscal health.
- Ability to manage stock levels, conduct physical counts, and coordinate purchasing with vendors and campus partners.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure responsive service and represent the store to students, families, and campus stakeholders.
- Proficiency in managing an online store using platforms like Shopify and understanding web content, usability, and digital merchandising.
- Skill in creating and implementing marketing strategies that engage customers and strengthen the store's presence on campus.
- Familiarity with Apple devices, visual merchandising standards, and the ability to oversee or assist with device diagnostics and repair.
- Ability to support student learning through the practicum course and guide student-led projects and initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, campus departments, and vendors to advance store goals and develop partnerships.
