Utility Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:
HDR's Utility Engineer will:
Identify and provide project management services for utility facilities impacted by civil engineering projects, including preparing contractual utility services scope schedules and fees, considering engineering alternatives analysis on design options to determine least impact to project costs and schedule, developing and maintaining project work plans, managing utility task budgets, and assembling project utility engineering deliverables; perform utility investigations and prepare utility files, including overall site layout, grading, utility layout, and drainage; create utility layouts and plans sheets for design of utility relocation; review design plan sets for utility-related costs, engineering design clearances, and schedule risks; prepare contract documentation graphics, presentations, and summary reports for clients; coordinate with client and utility owners to ensure project schedules are met and are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; implement company and client required quality control processes and checklists; and review and assign work performed by junior engineers and technical staff, assuring quality and timeliness of task due dates.
Required Qualifications



  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 4 years of experience in utility engineering.

  • Required experience must include experience in: performing site studies; performing overall utility and drainage layout, MicroStation, AutoCAD, BlueBeam software, ORD, and MS Project Schedule.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required (from any US jurisdiction).

  • NOTE: All HDR positions in the US may be subject to background checks and/or pre-employment drug testing.
