General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Supervisor Ultrasound to join our team atMedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center!

The Supervisor of Ultrasound Supervises department activities and maintains a standard of quality, plans, directs, and supervises all technical aspects of the ultrasound department in regard to services, programs, and evaluations of such programs. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department and for making work assignments to accommodate the work requirements. Performs diagnostic ultrasound examination for subsequent evaluation by a radiologist and treatment by an attending physician.

Primary Duties:

  • Performs a wide range of ultrasound examinations and procedures, including abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular studies, cyst aspirations, and biopsies with precision and care.
  • Provides compassionate patient care by clearly explaining procedures, addressing questions, and ensuring safe and comfortable positioning.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates ultrasound technologists; coordinates schedules, ensures quality control, and supports ongoing education and development.
  • Maintains compliance with infection control protocols, equipment maintenance, supply management, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with physicians and hospital leadership, contributes to departmental decisions, and represents ultrasound services in institutional and external meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiographic Technology as well as an accredited school of Medical Ultrasound Technology. (Required)
  • Competency in professional practice in supervisory skills, as appropriate, in the practice of diagnostic medical sonography. (Preferred)

Licenses/ Certifications:

* Certification by accredited school of ultrasound. (ARRT and ARDMS) (Required)

* Licensed by the State of Maryland (Required)

This position has a hiring range of $41.98 - $75.62
