SUMMARY: The senior solutions architect will use their subject matter expert level expertise in network design, systems engineering, security, cloud and virtualization technologies to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, high-performance and highly available technology solutions for APGFCU's on-premise and cloud-based IT infrastructure. The senior solutions architect serves as the technical lead and mentor to the IT Infrastructure team. Possesses SME level technical knowledge and hand-on experience in a variety of on-premise and cloud infrastructure technologies, networking, and virtualization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Systems Design and Engineering:



  • Architect, design deploy, and manage the credit union's on-premise and cloud infrastructure including cisco networking, Palo Alto firewalls, IPS/IDS, VDI, Virtualization, Azure, Linux and Microsoft servers;
  • Design, develop and maintain physical and software defined network architecture, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and SD-WAN solutions for secure connectivity;
  • Oversee and manage the planning, design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient IT systems, applications, and infrastructure;
  • Utilize hands-on experience to lead Azure cloud design and migrations, ensuring scalability, security, and disaster recovery;
  • Architect, Deploy, oversee, maintain, and troubleshoot Horizon and Citrix virtual desktop environments
  • Design and implement data center solutions, ensuring redundancy, disaster recovery, and compliance with financial regulations and industry best practices;
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the on-premise, IaaS, and cloud solutions including compliance with APGFCU and NCUA guidelines, industry standards, and information security principles and best practices.
  • Develop custom scripts and automation tools for system provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
  • Proactively monitor on-premise, IaaS, and cloud systems for performance, stability, security, and capacity management and prevent and resolve any issues.
  • Serve as technical project lead and subject matter expert on IT and corporate projects and provide technical and functional IT infrastructure expertise including Azure and AWS cloud services, Azure AD, network connectivity and access solutions, VMs, VDI, and disaster recovery;
  • Serve as a technical lead and mentor for the IT infrastructure team, providing guidance on complex technical challenges.
  • Create and maintain all documentation for on-premise and cloud infrastructure including network and data flow diagrams.


Cloud Services:



  • Lead cloud transformation initiatives by assessing current infrastructure, identifying modernization opportunities, and developing migration roadmaps.
  • Design, deploy, configure and manage cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS) ensuring security, performance and scalability.
  • Utilize scripting tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automating configuration, deployments, and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Engineer, support and troubleshoot Azure Active Directory and SSO.


Project Management:



  • Lead internal technical project teams on IT infrastructure, application and cloud deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Evaluate project proposals, implement project life-cycle, and manage approved projects.


Information Security:



  • Develop and enforce enterprise security architecture, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., NCUA, FFIEC,).
  • Architect, deploy, configure and maintain security configurations such as SSO, MFA, centralized logging, web and email filtering, DPI, DLP, and encryption to protect credit union's information systems.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity strategies to ensure system resilience against cyber threats and outages.
  • Configure, monitor, and analyze network and security logs, and alerts to detect and mitigate potential threats and issues.
  • Partner with the VP of infrastructure in designing a multi-layer security strategy to protect credit union information assets.


Professional Development:



  • Remain current with developments in the information technology field and their potential impact on the credit union's present and future needs.
  • Continue technical professional development through conferences, seminars and workshops, membership in technical and professional organizations, and through reading technical publications and journals.
  • Network with others in the credit union industry and interface with vendors and partners.
  • Maintain certification requirements and work towards acquiring new certifications as required.


Other:



  • Must be available to work after hours and participate in on-call rotation
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Support the systems engineers.


ADDITIONAL: Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related technical field. At least two or more industry certifications in technologies like Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, VDI, Citrix, Azure and AWS. Experience may be credited in lieu of education.

EXPERIENCE: Ten plus years of work experience in an enterprise environment consisting of Microsoft servers, virtualization, Linux, Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco routers, and switches required. Strong hands-on experience with Azure or AWS cloud and cloud migrations. SME level experience with network design, systems and network engineering, VPNs, IDS/IPS, SD-WAN, Palo Alto Firewalls, Virtualization, Microsoft technologies, SSO, Azure AD, SANs, vSphere, and VDI. Experience in financial industry or credit union environment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Subject matter expert in on-premise and cloud IT infrastructure technologies including networking, servers, storage, virtualization, virtual desktop solutions, and cyber security. Ability to perform architecture, migrations, build and deployment of systems, and applications in the cloud. Must have strong scripting abilities in PowerShell, Python or other scripting tools for automation and systems management. Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide IT Infrastructure team and influence organizational change.

Compensation information: Offers are based on experience and education.

$123,614.40 - $154,502.40 annually
