Overview The Specialist- Corporate Security is responsible for various functions in the O&R Corporate Security Department. These include but are not limited to supporting the investigative function, assisting employees, customers, and Law Enforcement with security-related issues, providing security awareness training to various departments throughout the company, conducting comprehensive vulnerability assessments at various company locations, assisting with administrative and Capital projects as required by the department.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure implementation of Company safety, health, and environmental programs for employees and contractors whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected per company policy and governmental regulations.
- Performs detailed security vulnerability assessments to maintain the reliability of the electric and gas infrastructure.
- Assist with security related investigations.
- Travels between company locations including CECONY/O&R as required.
- Conduct various security awareness training programs for operating groups throughout the company.
- Perform special assignments as requested by the Director of Corporate Security and O&R Department Manager.
- Maintains liaison with Law Enforcement agencies and other Corporate Security Departments to share information and address mutual security concerns.
- Monitor the Security Operations Center and contract guard staff to ensure efficient and effective operation.
- Participate in the companies Emergency Management processes and storm plans as required.
- Be on call for emergencies 24 hours a day, as required by department rotation.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 20 years' work experience as a professional law enforcement officer or
- Bachelor's Degree and 20 years' work experience as a professional law enforcement officer.
Relevant Work Experience
- Must have 20 years work experience as a professional law enforcement officer, required.
- Must have previous investigative experience, required.
- Experience overseeing multiple personal assigned to various posts throughout company locations, required.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment and under pressure. required.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and document incident events in a clear and concise fashion, required.
- Working knowledge of technical security equipment such as CCTV, video recording systems, card access and intrusion detection, required.
- Effectively interact with customers, vendors, support staff, and various management levels, required
- Must be a self-starter and have proven ability to analyze trends, delve into investigative facts and circumstances and correlate findings and leads into solving more egregious incidents, required.
- Must have strong presentation, analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint), required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver's License Required
- Other: HR218 or equivalent weapons permit Preferred
Additional Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
- Must perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
- Must perform heavy manual labor; i.e. pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Must carry tools and materials, climb ladders and scaffolds, and enter confined spaces
- Must climb ladders and stairs
- Must work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, or equipment
- Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Must stand, walk, and climb ladder and stairs for a whole shift
- Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
- Must unload materials from delivery vehicles and deliver equipment and materials to various operating facilities
- Must use eye-hand coordination to adjust controls on equipment
- Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness
