SUMMARY

Provides drawings and drafting information for plant applications, capable of taking manual field measurements and making hand sketches when scanning is not available, designs piping layout and pipe support arrangement, modifies minor steel structure and equipment foundation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Designs detailed piping layout and pipe support with the use of AutoCAD 3D modeling according to P & ID, design specifications, plot plan to comply with ANSI B31.3, ASME or other applicable code with little or no supervision.

  • Designs or modifies minor steel structures, platforms and equipment foundations according to similar existing design or the calculations/instructions from Project Engineer.

  • Perform and or assist with laser scanning which will be used to import into AutoCAD for design or verification purposes.

  • Assists the Project Engineer with the preparation of bid documentations, drawings and specifications for mechanical and civil construction, additions and modifications.

  • Incorporates changes onto original plant drawings.

  • Liaison with maintenance and construction personnel to assist with project management.

  • Accepts any other assignments from Project Engineering Manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.

  • Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

  • High School graduate and preferred Associates of Science degree or equivalent from technical school or college. Drafting degree preferred.

  • Ability to operate AutoCAD proficiently.

  • Minimum ten years drafting experience, preferably with chemical industry with AutoCAD experience.

  • Aspen Icarus Cost Estimating training and experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job is performed mainly in a control room or office setting. Physical presence and predictable attendance required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Inside exposure includes but not limited to A/C 60% of the time. Outside exposure includes but not limited to weather, fumes, and dust 40% of the time. May be exposed to slippery, rocky, uneven surface of floor/ground. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
