Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and responsible Construction Inspector to join our team on Department of Transportation (DOT) highway projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and be ready to perform field inspection duties. This role requires extensive time outdoors, proficiency in mathematical calculations, and the ability to prepare detailed written reports. A valid driver's license and computer literacy are essential, while DOT experience and certifications are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Confirming Compliance: Ensure all work performed by the contractor meets applicable code and safety requirements.
  • Research and Documentation: Conduct thorough research on construction information, documenting findings promptly and reporting discrepancies to the Project Manager, Engineer, or Inspection Supervisor.
  • Material Inspection: Inspect, measure, and issue delivery receipts for materials purchased, delivered, and utilized on the project as needed.
  • Report Preparation: Compile and prepare regular reports, including essential data on staff, materials, time, issues, concerns, and other project-related matters. Ensure inspection reports are accurate and reflect the contractor's work.
  • Project Changes: Seek approval from the Project Manager, Engineer, or Inspection Supervisor for any changes to project scope or additional inspection services as required.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated Experience: Preferred proficiency in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production across various project types.
  • Construction Knowledge: Familiarity with construction activities such as scheduling, ordering, quality control, and production.
  • Independent Work: Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Mathematical proficiency for accurate calculations.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Proficient in computer applications relevant to construction and reporting.
  • Valid driver's license
