We are seeking a dependable and responsible Senior Construction Inspector with a strong background in building inspection. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be capable of performing field and building inspector duties. This position requires spending extensive time outdoors, performing mathematical calculations, and preparing detailed written reports. Candidates must be computer literate and hold a valid driver's license. Experience with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and relevant certifications are preferred, along with a solid foundation in building inspection.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Construction Inspector will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Ensure Compliance: Confirm that all work performed by contractors meets applicable codes and safety requirements.
  • Research and Documentation: Research construction information, document findings promptly, and report any discrepancies to the Project Manager, Engineer, or Inspection Supervisor.
  • Material Inspection: Inspect, measure, and issue delivery receipts for materials purchased, delivered, and utilized for the project as needed.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports that compile necessary data, including staff materials, time, issues, concerns, and other project-related matters. Ensure that inspection reports are accurate and reflect the contractor's work.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret construction drawings to ensure proper materials and procedures are followed.
  • Scope Changes: Seek approval from the Project Manager, Engineer, or Inspection Supervisor for any changes to project scope or additional inspection services as required.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience and proficiency in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production across various project types. Familiarity with construction activities is essential.
  • Independence: Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective reporting and collaboration with project teams.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local and federal building codes, safety regulations, and construction practices.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using industry-specific software for report generation and project tracking.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform mathematical calculations relevant to construction and inspection tasks.
