Business minded visionary that leads New Brand Development for Spirits Business Unit (Core and New Business). Leads and is responsible for the Core Spirits Innovation Pipeline. Partners with New Business Innovation Lead to build New Business innovation pipeline. Makes sound business decisions and optimizes resources, managing complex and challenging innovation projects. Prioritizes quality throughout the innovation process. Works collaboratively with internal and external partners to identify, evaluate, and pursue complex and challenging new opportunities that are value added to the enterprise.

Essential Functions:

  • Owns and leads the new brand development process for Spirits Business Unit with expectation to commercialize at least two core spirits and two new business portfolio brands per year.
  • Leads and owns the Core Spirits innovation pipeline, partners with New Business innovation lead on New Business pipeline.
  • Serves as Product Owner for the Innovation Agile team and owns and is responsible for project timelines.
  • Builds charters for New Brand Development projects.
  • Partners with finance to build a model to evaluate the size of prize of the opportunity and serve as guide rails for development.
  • Partners with finance to build and refine the financial model throughout the development process.
  • Leads facilitation of BSP development and keeps a record of its iterations.
  • Develops and delivers creative briefs.
  • Partners with stakeholder team to refine and finalize creative.
  • Develops and partners with legal and compliance teams to trademark brand names.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the category (brands, trends, consumers, distributor and retailer POVs).
  • Partners with product development team to ensure early collaboration on liquid point of view as the brand is being developed to ensure product and concept fit.
  • Develops product briefs and refines product briefs with stakeholders' input.
  • Consults with Insights Lead to develop objectives for research that generates compelling andactionable insights and a robust understanding of the needs and values of the hypothesized target audience(s).
  • Incorporates consumer learning, category and competitive understanding to identify branding space(s) that chartered projects can occupy.
  • Organizes agendas for core team and stakeholder working sessions; sends recaps and action items following working sessions.
  • Records and maintains document history throughout the brand development lifecycle.
  • Responsible for managing the backlog of ideas and seeking aligned stakeholder prioritization for bringing in new work.
  • Stays connected to industry and consumer trends, travels to key markets to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Builds and maintains network of external partners for the purpose of innovation collaboration, learning and benchmarking.
  • Provides recommendations for test Market Design/Go To Market alongside Sales Planning & other Channel leads.
  • Assists in development of marketing plan for test launch and works with the future brand team to implement, as needed.
  • Works on interdepartmental planning teams, working cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
  • Monitors and ensures achievement of performance goals and metrics.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree plus 7 years of new brand development, communications strategy, marketing, new product development or project management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of new brand development, communications strategy, marketing, new product development or project management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of brand development experience to include innovation experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master's degree plus 6 years of Gallo brand development experience to include innovation experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 13 years of new brand development, communications strategy, marketing.
  • Required to travel up to 50% of the time to include home weeks and in-market.
  • Requred to see, smell and taste alcohol as part of job duties.
  • Required to be at least 21 years of age.
  • Strong understanding of the following areas: alc bev industry, consumer insights, new brand development, go-to-market dynamics, 3 tier distribution and corresponding channels.
  • Strong understanding of Pricing & Promotion.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration degree plus 8 years of Gallo brand marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Multiple Gallo marketing rotations.
  • Alc Beverage experience
  • Experience training and developing junior level brand marketers in executing brand and organizational objectives.
  • Experience managing business operations and leveraging basic finance and accounting principles.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Experience writing speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience performing work that is complex and varied in nature, requiring frequent evaluation, originality or ingenuity.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS database at an intermediate level; IRI, Brio and Spectra at a basic level.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $162,000 - $243,000/Year
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
