Engineering Manager overview:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the management and direction of engineering activities for all aircraft, engines, components, and/or appliances maintained by Sun Country Airlines.

Essential roles and responsibilities of an Engineering Manager:

  • Lead, manage, and supervise the daily activities of the Engineering team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Effectively prioritize and allocate engineering resources to support aircraft operations, maintenance checks, and modification programs.
  • Maintain and oversee the use of major/minor logic flow procedures to ensure Engineering Task Cards and Engineering Authorizations meet all applicable regulatory and certification standards.
  • Provide hands-on support for engineering initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the department.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables meet internal quality standards and comply with departmental policies.
  • Develop, implement, and update departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions as needed.
  • Represent Engineering in industry forums and working groups, and other external initiatives focused on aircraft reliability and operational performance.
  • Manage the technical integrity and compliance of the Structural Repair and Corrosion Reporting programs.
  • Promote and ensure a safe work environment by adhering to all federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as internal health and safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.


The qualifications we are looking for in an Engineering Manager include:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Aerospace or a related engineering discipline within an MRO or airline environment supporting large transport aircraft.
  • Proven expertise in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with a strong understanding of FAA regulations and CFR requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervisory or management roles, with the ability to lead both direct reports and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capable of working independently, delivering high-quality results within defined timelines.
  • Skilled in handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and willing to travel to locations served by the company.
  • Qualified candidate must pass a criminal history background check as well as a pre employment drug test.


Preferred Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis to resolve problems
  • Familiarity with project management and progress reporting processes
  • Basic understanding of SCA and/or other airline operations
  • BSME/MSME
  • Familiarity with TRAX or eMR0 software.
  • Familiarity with 737NG Structures, Systems and Avionics and CFM56-7B engines.


Compensation:

$130,000.00-160,000.00 USD. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

Full-time, exempt

Working Location:

This position is open in Minneapolis, MN.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Management, direction, and supervision of Engineering Departmental Staff.

Work Environment:

Must be able to obtain MSP SIDA Badge.
