Job Overview:

RWJ Barnabas Health is looking for a qualified Nursing Director of whom will be the nursing leader in the daily functioning of the Ambulatory Medical Pavilion -AMP- and 10 Plum Street practices. This individual will have oversight to ensure the delivery of quality patient care for all patients within this sector. They work with the clinical nursing staff to establish a culture of best practices through a common vision, common language, goals and metrics.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of National League for Nursing accredited School of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.
  • Five years of nursing experience, preferably in ambulatory setting.
  • Evidence of leadership ability.
  • Broad knowledge of healthcare administration, practices and principles within a healthcare system.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Emphasizes the positive and provides clear direction.
  • Able to keep up to date in nursing competency to meet standards of national, state, and hospital accreditation.
  • Current RN licensure in New Jersey.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required

Preferred:

  • Master of Science in nursing degree preferred.
  • Professional nursing certification preferred.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Leads nursing practice using the tenets of the Professional Practice Model of Relationship Centered Care and the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing for the promotion of the patient experience.
  • Interprets and communicates quantitative and qualitative information regarding the patient experience and staff engagement to the staff and the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team that leads to continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with the provider team, problem solves accordingly, and escalates concerns as appropriate.
  • Follows up on all patient concerns in a timely manner and provides service recovery as needed.
  • Supports implementation of the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the hospital.
  • Provides administrative and clinical oversight to ensure that all activity (staffing, support services, interdisciplinary collaboration, resources and financial viability) supports the goals of the organization.
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to promote patient care and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains a nursing team in compliance with all regulatory agency mandates, including the regulations of The Joint Commission.
  • Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.
  • Evaluates staff performance and mentors, coaches, counsels and disciplines direct and indirect reports as needed.
  • Assists nursing educators with professional development of nursing staff.
  • Participates in nursing orientation and training, including competencies.
  • Is financial responsible and accountable for budget, including productivity and overtime.
  • Participates in nursing quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborates with department leadership on nursing schedules.
  • Collaborates with practice operations on maintaining supplies and equipment for safe nursing practice and patient care.
  • Seeks feedback and recommendations form others to improve the quality, processes, and services.
  • Uses sound employee relations practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility.
  • Takes the initiative to continually evaluate one s work, report problems, suggestion solutions and try new ideas.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency when completing assignments, while remaining positive and focused despite obstacles and setbacks.
  • Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals.
  • Participates in Quality Forums/Fairs.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of system policies and procedures related to nursing practice and personnel management.
