Assistant Dining Manager Davidson College Dining is looking for an experienced Assistant Dining manager to be responsible and accountable for supervision of supervisors and associates in a fast paced, excellence focused, college food service operation. This is a 12 month, 40-hour-per-week position and is required to work evenings and weekends. The Assistant Dining Manager is responsible for scheduling, training, and supervising the team. The Assistant Dining Manager is responsible for the P & L, and all controllable expenses including labor, inventory levels, inventory shortages and overall guest satisfaction. This position may independently manage a location or assist the manager at a busier, higher-revenue dining location. Qualifications
- Associate's degree or High School Diploma and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Servsafe Manager certified or ServSafe Manager certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Allertrain U certified or certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Requires good organizational skills, ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Computer skills required, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, OneNote, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets etc...
- Great customer service skills. Desire to support our stated mission and provide leadership that supports policies and procedures.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements College policies.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume facility including retail locations.
- Strong management skills.
- This role has physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, carrying and / or extended walking and standing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating job performance for all associates, including students.
- Ensuring excellent Guest service.
- Reward and recognize employees.
- Ensure individual and team performance meets objectives and departmental expectations.
- Plan and lead daily team briefings.
- Ensure that assigned dining location's brand standards are maintained, including attending all required training courses and online meetings. Must be able to successfully complete all certifications and become brand certified.
- Seeks compliance with all recipes, menu items, policies and procedures of Dining Services and the college.
- Work with the Diet Technician to confirm the menus displayed on our menu management system and digital menu board match the items being served.
- Bring value through efficient operations, appropriate cost controls, and profit management.
- Production: works a station and / or preps to ensure that other stations are fully stocked during peak service times. This position seeks compliance with recipes standards, cooking methodology and finished products, as well as financial concerns.
- Support Catering or concessions - this may include working and staffing events.
- Confirms that stations are stocked and ready for service, associates are using proper food preparation practice, and food items are presented in an attractive and appealing manner.
- Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food.
- Guest Service: ensures that guest service standards remain high, and all guests' needs are met. This position must be able to troubleshoot and correct service issues.
- Ensures cashier compliance with pricing, PCI compliance and meal plan policies.
- Manage Point of Sale set up and programming, updating the system with new products.
- Completes daily reports and entries in a timely manner as established by management.
- Implements and enforce the established daily operating procedures to ensure location and facilities are clean, exceeding the health department's sanitation and food safety standards. Taking pride and ownership of your outlet.
- Merchandise management: Ensures all merchandise is ordered, received, and stocked according to Davidson College standards. Merchandises are displayed in an attractive manner, priced correctly, and displayed safely. Maintains quality brand image standards.
- Implements Monthly promotions, ensuring all POS advertising/signage is properly posted at the proper time. Communicates and performs all price change requests, mark downs / ups as requested by Management. Communicates any problems with merchandise pricing to Management.
- Develop relationships with vendors and campus community. Stay abreast of current market trends and be engaged with our guests to understand their preferences and how to fulfill them.
- Any other responsibilities assigned by the Manager.
- This position may be temporarily assigned to an alternate location during scheduled breaks or summer closures of the assigned site.

Lifting Required: 25 pounds. Travel Required: Less than 5 %. Seasonal Responsibilities: Throughout the academic year there are periods of downtime when work is not available. Examples of these include winter break and spring break. During this time, other jobs may be assigned by the Associate Director/Director. These duties may include, but are not limited to, Catering, concessions, Vail Commons and other retail locations. Benefits
