Duties and Responsibilities |
- Participate in a team, providing a variety of landscape maintenance duties including watering, snow removal, mowing, weeding, trimming, edging, renovating, and fertilizing lawns
- Rake leaves and/or clear debris from walks, fields, courts, parking lots, and other open areas; load, remove, dispose of trimmings and cuttings; pick-up trash and empty trash receptacles
- Power washing of sidewalks, exterior walls, awnings, signage, trashcans, loading docks, and other exterior surfaces
- Dig ditches, holes and trenches as necessary
- Operate light Grounds equipment such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers, lawn edgers, and snow blowers
- Assist with exterior window cleaning
- Empty trash and recycling containers on the exterior of campus buildings
- Assist with moving furniture between buildings as well as between campuses
- Perform preventative maintenance to vehicles, equipment, and tools; make minor adjustments and repairs; report the need for major repairs and maintenance
- Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed
- Participate in training in the use of heavy equipment as well as classes related to landscaping to improve professional skills and become eligible for the Grounds Worker II position.
- During inclement weather assist with other duties as assigned. Such as assisting in building inspections and inclement weather preparedness.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience |
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of related experience in commercial landscaping maintenance; or willing to be trained.

Qualifications |
- Must be able to work extended work hours as necessary and be available 24 hours a day for call-in due to snow removal or other campus emergencies.
- Must have and maintain a working phone number for on-call contact.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses |
- Must have a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Maintain the license while employed at Loyola University.
