JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Statistics at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the group of Dr. Bharath Sriperumbudur. Potential research projects include (but are not limited to) developing theory and methods for metric-valued (including functions, distributions) data analysis, optimal transport and gradient flows, and deep learning. A Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, CS/EE (with a focus on statistics/machine learning) or a directly related field at the time of appointment is required. The successful applicant will be expected to have a solid mathematical and statistical background, research experience showing independence and innovation, and demonstrated academic writing skills. This is a term position that is initially funded for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of re-funding for another year.
