JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-line position in Biomedical Engineering anticipated at the Assistant Professor level, in the area of Neural Engineering and Brain Synchrony. A preferred research focal area for the position is the use of multi-modal recordings with AI/ML and computational modeling for use in precision medicine. Interventional modalities could include transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial alternating current stimulation or related techniques.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is home to 29 faculty, ~100 graduate students, and ~400 undergraduate students. The faculty conduct in excess of $10M per year of funded research across a broad spectrum of traditional and emerging areas. Penn State actively encourages and provides resources for interdisciplinary research collaboration through university-level institutes in the areas of healthcare, materials and data science/computation.The Department offers separate B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in biomedical engineering. Qualification for the position is a doctorate in engineering or a related field that must be completed by the start date in the position. The successful applicants will have demonstrated outstanding scholarly research, and will have a strong track record in engineering education, as well as a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, to develop an internationally recognized, externally-funded research program, and to contribute to the operation and promotion of the department, college, university, and profession through service.
