The Cloud Automation Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with a primary focus on HashiCorp Terraform and Microsoft Azure. This role is responsible for automating the provisioning, configuration, and management of Brown University Health's hybrid infrastructure, including on-premises systems and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Terraform and Azure, with a strong understanding of scalable, secure, and repeatable infrastructure practices. Key Responsibilities* Design, develop, and manage Terraform-based IaC solutions to automate the provisioning and lifecycle management of infrastructure, with a focus on Azure and secondary support for AWS. * Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to define reusable Terraform modules and enforce best practices for code structure, versioning, and deployment. * Integrate Terraform with CI/CD pipelines to enable automated infrastructure deployments and updates. * Maintain and evolve infrastructure state management using Terraform Cloud or other backends. * Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python, PowerShell, or Shell to support infrastructure operations and configuration management. * Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to ensure visibility and reliability of automated infrastructure. * Ensure all automation and IaC implementations meet security, compliance, and governance standards. * Document infrastructure designs, workflows, and automation processes clearly and consistently. * Provide support and troubleshooting for infrastructure automation issues and collaborate on root cause analysis and remediation. QualificationsEducation: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Certifications (Preferred): * HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate * Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305) * AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Associate) * VMware, Citrix, or Cisco certifications Experience: * Proven experience with Terraform in production environments, including module development and state management. * Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure; familiarity with AWS is a plus. * Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). * Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps). * Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Shell. * Knowledge of IT security and compliance best practices. * Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills. Additional Information* This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. * The role offers flexibility with remote or hybrid work arrangements.
