Come join our dynamic, highly skilled General Cardiology Advance Practice Provider team! The UCSF Health Division of Cardiology offers top-tier heart care to patients from the Bay Area, the West Coast, and beyond. Its faculty includes internationally recognized cardiology experts who provide exceptional treatment for both rare and common heart conditions. The division emphasizes heart disease prevention and offers cutting-edge treatments-many pioneered at UCSF-such as arrhythmia ablation and outpatient coronary interventions. UCSF's Mission Bay Cardiovascular Center enhances patient care with modern facilities and a streamlined experience. We value individuals who are professional with strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to prioritize and adapt to changing situations. Our General Cardiology APPs manage complex patients collaboratively with Cardiology Fellows and Physicians in a face-paced clinic environment.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master's degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Nurse Practitioner 2:

  • 1-3 years related Cardiology experience as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum 1-year Ambulatory Cardiology experience or combined experience in Ambulatory and Inpatient Cardiology

Preferred Qualifications


  • Minimum 1 year Advance Practice Provider experience in General Cardiology or Cardiology Sub-specialty in the ambulatory setting
  • Ambulatory Epic experience in the Advance Practice Provider role
  • Advanced cardiac assessment skills - reviewing EKGs, heart sounds, and recognizing signs of acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
  • Understanding cardiac procedures and tests - stress testing, echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, Holter monitoring, etc.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular pharmacology - understanding cardiac medications, their interactions, and side effects (e.g., anticoagulants, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors).
  • Management of chronic cardiac conditions - such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, arrhythmias, and hyperlipidemia.

License/Certification


  • California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction
  • California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
  • California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number including Schedule II furnishing privileges
  • NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role

  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
