The Team Leader in Hydraulics oversees and manages a team of engineers and technical professionals, driving successful project delivery from conception to completion. Key responsibilities include managing hydraulic engineering projects, developing scopes of work, budgets, and proposals, and maintaining high-quality standards through QA/QC processes. The Team Leader will coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations, meet deadlines, and achieve financial and technical goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities. Foster an environment of continuous learning by acting as both mentor and mentee, sharing knowledge while also remaining open to learning from others.
Project Management:
- Oversee hydraulic projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timelines. This includes the creation of project proposals, planning, and resource allocation to meet client requirements and company objectives.
Scopes, Budgets, and Proposals:
- Develop detailed scopes of work, estimates, and proposals for hydraulic engineering projects. Ensure projects align with client needs while meeting internal financial goals. Monitor budgets to avoid overruns and ensure financial targets are met.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC):
- Ensure that all work produced by the team meets or exceeds industry standards through robust QA/QC practices. Establish and maintain procedures to ensure the technical quality of deliverables, reviewing work for accuracy and completeness.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as the primary liaison between clients, stakeholders, and team members, ensuring clear communication across all levels. Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with other departments to ensure efficient use of resources.
Employee Development & Performance Management:
- Track and manage individual and team performance, conducting regular reviews, providing feedback, and implementing performance improvement strategies. Encourage professional development and facilitate opportunities for skill-building.
Risk Management:
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to hydraulic project delivery, scope changes, or budgetary constraints. Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in hydraulic engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, including the development of scopes, budgets, and proposals.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC principles and practices within the hydraulic engineering discipline.
- Experience with mentorship, fostering both technical growth and leadership development in junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage with clients.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools, MS Office suite, and project management systems.
