Research Scientist Intern - Onsite - Ann Arbor, MI

Based at our Ann Arbor site, in this role you will serve as critical contributor in support of the development and integration of Sartorius' emerging optical technologies for characterization of live cells. These leading-edge platforms will be utilized in basic research as well as the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. You will be expected to design and execute experiments systematically, analyze and report the results weekly. You willalso work closely with internal and external subject matter experts to identify and understand the nature of emerging technologies.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Support development of prototype platforms through to proof of concept.
  • Work closely with internal and external subject matter experts to identify and understand the nature of nascent imaging technologies
  • Gather, analyze and define requirements for optical analytical tools.
  • Provide support or guidance to technical support team and R&D teams as needed for transfer of technologies developed and/or adopted into the Sartorius product development or OEM organizations.

What will convince us:

  • MS or enrolled in a PhD program in Bioengineering, Chemistry, or closely related discipline
  • Some background in spectroscopic techniques such as Raman, Infrared, UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence techniques.
  • Previous hands-on experience with culturing and maintaining live cells is preferred.
  • Ability to interface with specialists from target biological application areas and engineering disciplines such as mechanical (hardware, fluidic, thermal), electrical, software, sensor technology (optical, electronical), and chemical.
  • Experience working as part of multi-partner R&D projects.
