The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Chemistry under the direction of Prof. Eva Maria Alvarez Pari (https://chemistry.as.virginia.edu/people/profile/pari). QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A PhD in chemistry (organic, inorganic or organometallic) is a mandatory requirement by the appointment start date. Desirable qualifications include expertise in synthetic photochemistry, spectroscopic tools (e.g. NMR, IR, UV-Vis) as well as experience in the synthesis of sensitive organometallic compounds using Schlenk techniques. The candidate must have a strong theoretical background, experience working in organic synthesis, main group chemistry and knowledge of computational chemistry (DFT). A record of high-quality research as demonstrated by scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals will be highly valued. The successful candidate (s) will be expected to be creative, capable of working independently, be a team player and help mentor undergraduates and graduate students in the laboratory.
