Position Description
The Simulation Center Specialist performs varied and complex duties in the daily operation of a Clinical Simulation Center, including programming and operating simulators for assigned exercises. They provide routine support and operation for the daily activities of a Clinical Simulation Center, ensuring scheduled activities have the required tools and equipment stocked and deployed as specified. They work with other simulation center specialists, simulation technicians, and faculty/staff who operate and maintain tools and equipment used for the simulation curriculum.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assist in implementing, operating, and evaluating patient simulators, software, audio-visual equipment, and other technologies using best practice standards.
  • Manage simulation and technology-based equipment, including setup, take-down, inventory/yearly inventory, and equipment stocking, preventive maintenance, and assist with or coordinate simulation and technology repairs with relevant departments.
  • Support simulation-specific and simulation-center IT infrastructure, including control PCs, hardware systems, connected peripheral devices, and other technology-based equipment.
  • Work with Simulation Center Specialists, Technicians, and Coordinators across the program to ensure consistency and optimal execution of simulation-based and SP-based experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Simulation Leadership Team and other stakeholders to streamline simulation center operations, from reservation to activity evaluation, and provide technical support for efficient operations.
  • Provide theatrical elements like costuming and moulage for simulation scenarios and standardized patient (SP)-based scenarios.
  • Develop and/or teach simulation-based courses in collaboration with TTUHSC Schools, including, but not limited to, courses for micro-credentialing, courses for the AHA training centers, courses supported by the TTUHSC Simulation Program, and/or operating simulators for course instructors.
  • Conduct tours for community and campus visitors, serving as a liaison and promoting the simulation center's capabilities.
  • Stay current in simulation operations specialization and lead presentations or educational sessions for simulation educators and operations staff.


Required Qualifications
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree with coursework in a related area plus two (2) years related full-time paid experience; OR a combination of related full-time paid experience and/or education to equal six (6) years.
