About the Job

Position Description: 0001 - Husbandry Temp/Casual

Ongoing tasks may include the following:
Animal husbandry (clean cages, cage assembly, feeding, watering).
General sanitation (clean floors, walls, countertops).
House newly arrived animals and complete paperwork.
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Some work assignments will involve exposure to animal allergens, high levels of noise, and/or disinfectants, and sanitizing agents. To protect employees, the University of MN may require you to wear personal protection equipment, some of which may require medical monitoring and fitness testing. All required protective equipment, testing, and medical evaluations will be provided by the University.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Some weekend work may be required.
Must be able to lift/push 50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with rodents.
Experience with laboratory animals.
Experience caring for, cleaning, feeding, monitoring, and medicating animals.

About the Department

Research Animal Resources (RAR) provides the University of Minnesota research community with animal care, procurement services, veterinary knowledge, and maintenance of housing facilities for animal-related research activities.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $16.25/hour
