Revenue Cycle Strategy and Innovation Program Manager

The Strategy and Innovation Program Manager will report to the Director, Revenue Cycle Transformation and in partnership with key stakeholders, the Strategy & Innovation Program Manager sets the annual Revenue Cycle strategic plan, manages vendor strategy/performance, and continuously works to improve people, process, and technology deployment across teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of healthcare revenue cycle, vendor management, and strategic planning.
Operational Performance
*Manages the strategic planning and business development contributing to the growth of the Mass General Brigham Revenue Cycle, its image, recognition, and acceptance in the healthcare industry.
*Defines new markets and set strategies for Revenue Cycle business development.
*Contribute to the ongoing refinement of the strategy framework, ensuring alignment with evolving healthcare regulations and RCO goals.
*Assist in researching and identifying potential vendors, assessing their capabilities, while working closely with department heads to identify the right vendors for projects and operational needs.
*Collaborate with contracting and legal teams to support the negotiation process to ensure alignment with RCO organizational goals and protect the groups interests.
*Facilitates projects and conversations with outside health care organizations to share and develop best practices.
Financial Performance
*Ensures Revenue Cycle operating strategies and goals are aligned with Enterprise-wide financial and operating strategies.
*Oversees the development and implementation of the annual strategic plan including annual growth goals and individual performance metrics.
*Conduct comprehensive cost-benefit analysis to assess the financial and operational impact of potential and existing vendor partnerships, ensuring alignment with the RCO's budgetary goals and maximizing return on investment (ROI).
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
*Assist with the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of vendor services.
*Analyze vendor performance via KPIs to measure their impact
*Conduct regular root cause analyses on underperforming vendors, and recommend adjusting strategies as needed
*Regularly report findings and insights to leadership to support data-driven decisions.
*Proactively manage financial and operational risks tied to new vendor business initiatives, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
Key Interactions
*MGB Enterprise Strategic Leadership | Collaborate to help identify new initiative opportunities to embed Revenue Cycle teams in enterprise-wide strategic initiatives
*Upward Revenue Cycle Leadership | Collaborate with Revenue Cycle L1/L2s to understand Revenue Cycle strategic goals and direction.
*MGB Digital | Coordinate as necessary with the MGB Digital team to successfully advance vendor projects and ensure initiatives are appropriately prioritized
*Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, management, finance, business administration or related field required and Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • 3-5 years of Program and/or Project management experience required

  • 3-5 years relevant Healthcare experience specifically in revenue cycle or strategy required

  • Familiarity with healthcare vendors, third-party billing solutions, and industry best practices.

  • Experience with Epic preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and revenue cycle operations best practice

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, payer-provider relationships, and RCO processes.

  • Ability to translate organizational goals into actionable vendor strategies.

  • Meticulous in managing performance data.

  • Works effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Ability to work with people collaboratively and effectively from all organizational levels

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and is quick to learn new processes and systems.

  • Excellent personnel management and organizational management skills - including written and oral communication, relationship management, customer service, and organization.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • This position is Remote but with the expectation that employees may be asked to come into the office, on average, once per quarter for up to 4 business days (travel will be reimbursed per MGB policy).

  • Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and mask.

  • This position is a M-F, dayshift, full time exempt position

  • Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
