Neurology Physicians Job Summary

Monitor patients, offer bedside and intra-operative cortical stimulation/brain mapping, and perform advanced imaging including but not limited to 3T brain MRI, PET scan, and Wada testing. Treatment options performed include but are not limited to surgical resection, laser ablation (LITT), bedside sEEG-guided radiofrequency (RF) ablation, RNS, DBS, and VNS.
This is an academic position affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, with teaching responsibilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Diagnose complex medical problems by referring to a patient's history, examining them, and conducting neurological tests. (30%)
  • Order neurological tests and interpreting the results of neuroimaging studies. (30%)
  • Monitor the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication. (30%)
  • Participate in neuroscience research activities. (10%)

Education:
  • Doctorate Degree Graduation from an accredited medical school Required and
  • Completion of accredited residency program and fellowships Required and
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Required

Work Experience:
  • 1 year working in clinical epilepsy or
  • 2 years of clinical neurophysiology/EEG

Licenses:
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required and
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Computer skills required.
