Bay Cove Human Services' mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.



Job Summary:


The Director of Health Services (DHS) works closely with the Site Director in providing administrative leadership for the program's operation. S/he serves as an integral member of the program's management team in directing a multidisciplinary staff which includes medical/nursing, counseling/case management and direct care. The Director of Health Services also leads the program in promoting access, quality assurance and excellent care to individuals seeking treatment. The program's mission is to provide comprehensive medical detoxification, clinical stabilization and aftercare planning for adults with substance use disorders and possible co-morbidities, in a respectful and compassionate manner, through individualized medical, psychological and educational interventions. The Director of Health Services supports this mission through their leadership, direction, and sound management of the program.

This is an exempt position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Supervises program intake and admissions, nursing/medical including Nurse Practitioners
  • Assumes supervisory responsibility of the program in the absence of the Site Director
  • Recruits, interviews and hires appropriate applicants for program positions
  • Delegates staff duties and provides ongoing supervision for direct reports
  • Conducts performance evaluations and provides corrective actions to direct reports
  • Provides staff with ongoing opportunities for professional development


Essential Functions of Position:



  • Oversees the administrative and health services functions of the program
  • Directs the program admission functions, ensuring access through strong customer service and milieu management
  • Collaborates with the Site Director in monitoring utilization management and reimbursement
  • Works with the multidisciplinary team (i.e. medical/nursing, case management and direct care) to facilitate daily programming, related activities and overall service delivery
  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with the Medical Director, Psychiatric Consultant, and Nurse Practitioner and participates in case reviews
  • Works in partnership with Andrew House Boston and New Hope TSS Nurse Managers to ensure consistency and compliance across all programs.
  • Leads quality improvement and assurance initiatives to promote best practices and quality service delivery across the program and AS Division
  • Oversees compliance with all federal and state licensing mandates, accreditation and contracting standards, including DPH licensing, DEA registration, CARF, Medicaid and local ordinances
  • Collaborates with the program management team on planning and development of program policy and procedures
  • Assists in the development and implementation of in-service training and support ongoing staff development
  • Provides on-call support to staff as scheduled
  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by the Site Director


Qualifications:



  • Massachusetts Licensed Registered Nurse with at least 10 years nursing experience
  • Minimally 5 years of experience serving substance use and mental health disorders
  • Minimally 5 years of policy administration and demonstrated leadership experience
  • Excellent writing, and oral communication skills and computer literacy
