SENIOR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS Emergency Management Number of Positions: 3 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $88,092.00 This position is open to current AFSCME BIDDERS AND the PUBLIC. Only current City employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4, & 5 are considered BIDDERS and are eligible to bid. Under general supervision, the class functions at the technical specialist level, performing professional emergency management work in the areas of prevention, protection, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. RELATED DUTIES * Drafts public informational materials and conducts public education presentations on emergency management programs; * Provides direction and guidance to lower-level emergency management coordinators. Additional duties may be required for this position. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree supplemented by two years of experience in emergency management, law enforcement, fire prevention, or safety operations, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met. NOTE: Must have a valid State of Illinois driver's license. NOTE: You must provide your transcripts or diploma, professional license, or training certificates at time of processing, if applicable. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to complete an interview. This position also requires candidate(s) to complete a Willingness and Ability questionnaire. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
