We are seeking a seasoned Senior Back End Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development, particularly in building and deploying back end web applications. They will be proficient in utilizing modern open-source software and frameworks and have a strong understanding of server-side processing, data storage, and integration with front end development. This role requires coordination across teams to develop and support common, reusable libraries and solutions.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Web Back End Developer: $120,000 - $150,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Senior Web Back End Developer Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and consume web-based, RESTful APIs using Java and Spring.
  • Work in Microservices architecture within Kubernetes and Service Mesh platforms like ISTIO.
  • Create Swagger and OpenAPI documentation for RESTful services, and maintain JavaDocs.
  • Proficiently handle both relational and non-relational database systems.
  • Implement scalable search technology such as ElasticSearch or Solr.
  • Utilize Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) and Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP) for development.
  • Manage large datasets effectively for handling and storage scalability.
  • System Analysis, Design, and Development:
    • Design, build, and implement software applications, including defect remediation and infrastructure support.
    • Author developer-friendly documentation, including API documentation and deployment operations.
    • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and conduct alternative analysis.
    • Follow Test-driven development (TDD) paradigm and operate in a DevOps environment.
    • Research and learn new programming tools and techniques, and assist in automation and performance testing.
    • Provide Tier 3 support, assist in software packaging, and utilize version control systems like Git and GitHub.
    • Coach, train, and mentor other developers.
  • Agile Teamwork:
    • Participate in daily stand-up meetings, planning activities, and team retrospectives.
    • Communicate with Scrum Master regarding issues or impediments and confirm dependencies for planning.
    • Conduct Demos for individual stories and update tasks in Rational CLM.
    • Ensure Enabler Stories are identified and collaborate with ES.
    • Translate business requirements into stories with acceptance criteria and work in agile team environments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Senior Web Back End Developer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Five years' experience, full-time professional development experience
  • Active IRS Cleared (MBI)- required
  • Proficiency in JDK 1.8 and 11, MDC, Http Filters, Loggers, Concurrency, Security, JPA, JUnit
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Projects including MVC, Boot, WebFlux, Cloud, Test, Security, Cache, JPA
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Git
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Familiarity with Swagger and OpenAPI

    • Jira, Confluence, React, AWS, Databricks
    • Experience with Splunk

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong proficiency in Java development and Spring framework
  • Expertise in DevOps tools and practices
  • Ability to work in Microservices architecture and Kubernetes environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Mentorship and leadership capabilities
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
