Senior, Corporate Technical Accounting

About the Role:

Are you a self-motivated finance professional seeking to apply your technical accounting, project management and leadership experience to drive positive results across a global organization? If so, join the technical accounting group at Boston Scientific. We are a dynamic, high-performing team that is responsible for overseeing complex and judgmental technical accounting areas, implementing, and maintaining global accounting policies and compliance with external reporting requirements. This position will collaborate with stakeholders across the global organization to understand business drivers and opportunities/risks to identify accounting implications and impact to Boston Scientific; continually assess and implement process improvements; and maintain accurate accounting of results in a well-controlled environment. The role will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Technical Accounting.

Your Responsibilities Include:



  • Apply technical accounting research to various areas including investments, collaboration agreements, and joint ventures.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and presentations to highlight key considerations and financial impacts.
  • Complete accounting close activities and related internal controls, including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Partner with the SEC Reporting team to prepare high-quality footnotes and disclosures for our quarterly and annual filings.
  • Partner with the Corporate SOX team to maintain effective internal controls over areas of responsibility.
  • Liaise with external auditors to address review/audit questions and provide relevant responses and supporting documentation.
  • Deliver accurate annual plan and periodic forecast estimates to FP&A for each area of responsibility.
  • Drive continuous improvement within our processes to gain efficiencies.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; Master's degree a plus
  • CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required. Prior experience in a public accounting firm preferred; mix of public/private a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SAP and Hyperion Financial Management experience a plus.


A successful candidate will need to exhibit the following qualities:



  • Strong accounting and analytical skills


  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP and ability to interpret and apply technical accounting research and reach conclusions.
  • Desire to engage, lead and work in cross-functional teams - independently and in consultative manner.
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills which provide the ability to establish and build working relationships with individuals throughout the organization.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) - see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
