Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Three (3) years of automotive mechanic experience in gas, diesel, and heavy equipment service and repair.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida CDL A driver's license within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
Key Responsibilities
  • Performs repairs and services on various automotive, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment as assigned, i.e., engines, transmissions, mufflers, water hoses, starters, brakes, tires, points, plugs, and radiators.
  • Performs detailed preventive maintenance according to assigned schedules, i.e., changing oil, tires, transmission fluid, and tune-ups.
  • Overhauls and services assemblies and accessories such as rear axles, hydraulic systems, universal joints, and drive shafts.
  • Tests vehicles and equipment to ascertain repair effectiveness.
  • Responds to road emergencies and performs any necessary repairs in the field.
  • Performs various record maintenance duties, i.e., work descriptions, parts, and supplies per work order. Logs work and materials in the fleet computer system.
  • Inspects, adjusts and replaces valves, hoses, pistons, bearings, cooling, fuel, ignition, and exhaust systems.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
