Who we are looking for:

ASCO's Accounting department is seeking an Accounting Intern. This internship with our accounting team offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and develop practical accounting skills. You will contribute directly to key processes and gain valuable insight into the full accounting cycle within a non-profit setting.

This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in accounting process improvement and exposure to Oracle ERP and Insight into non-profit specific reporting and accounting practices.

Internship activities include:

  • Perform, review, and analyze assigned general ledger accounts

  • Participate in month-end closing process and perform tasks as assigned

  • Assist the accounting team with cash reconciliations and work related to the Oracle cash management module

  • Assist the team with variance analysis and work with other teams to analyze discrepancies

  • Gather and organize data related to process flows.

  • Create detailed process documentation and flowcharts for accounting processes.

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders in the accounting department to gather insight and feedback on the current processes and/or issues with financial systems.

  • Other reporting and administrative activities as needed.

Required qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.

  • Pursuing a degree in finance, accounting, business information technology or related field

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs

  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism

  • Willingness to enhance skills

Duration:10weeksduring thesummer - June 9, 2025, to August 15, 2025. This internship is37.5hours per week.

Compensation:Thissummerinternship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.

Location:This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
