DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will be required to maintain a working knowledge of departmental operations and laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that govern 29 boards and commissions. This includes the Act 48 program and its operations, as well as related programs such as the Medical Care Availability and Reduction of Error Act (Mcare), Medicare, the Professional Health Monitoring Program, Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law, and the Real Estate Recovery Fund. You will have the opportunity to research and respond to complex verbal and written inquiries. This involves screening the inquiries to determine if the issue can be addressed by the department, if not, you will evaluate the complaint, suggest other alternatives, and redirect complainants to other agencies or offices if necessary. You will utilize your extensive knowledge to advise complainants regarding the department's complaint process and the capabilities of the bureau regarding types of disciplinary action that can be taken. Additional responsibilities include:
- Applying knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations of the bureaus to determine jurisdiction
- Determining appropriate coding and codes complaints in tracking system database
- Referring complaints not within the jurisdiction to appropriate agency
- Preparing and sending discrepancy letters to complainants
- Contacting complainants to clarify or request information to process complaints efficiently
- Tracking and distributing complaint-related files, documents and information

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after 6 months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
