The Opportunity

The Claims Operations Performance Manager is a critical part of the Munich Re Specialty - North America Claims infrastructure and is responsible for managing a team of Claim Analysts who are responsible for Claim Intake, Disbursements, Recoveries, Claims Data, Bordereau Processing, MGA/TPA Coordination, and Reconciliation. The Claims Operations Manager also supports claims-related activities and projects being led by other MRSNA divisions, including Accounting, Finance, IT, Actuarial, Compliance, Outlier Management, Transformation, Product, Underwriting, and Data/Analytics.

The Claims Operations Performance Manager is responsible for payment, FNOL and financial transactions monthly and follows corporate and division requirements for payment and reserve processing with referral to the Department Heads on items above their authority. They will also be responsible for analyzing the effectiveness of existing claims operations systems, processes, and procedures to make recommendations to improve operational efficiencies, quality, service, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Team Management: Manage a team of Claim Analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities to ensure successful claims processing and team growth.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements, new reports, and system upgrades to optimize team efficiency, quality, and productivity. Utilize Agile and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements and measure the effectiveness of implemented changes.

  • Claims Operations: Oversee claims intake, disbursements, recoveries, claims data management, bordereau processing, and MGA/TPA coordination.

  • Collaboration and Project: Responsible for claims-related activities and projects across various MRSNA teams, including Accounting, Finance, IT, Actuarial, Compliance, Outlier Management, Transformation, Product, Underwriting, and Data/Analytics.

  • Systems and Workflow Management: Ensure seamless workflow processes across multiple claim administration systems, including Outlook, SharePoint, ISyCL, Workflow, Duck Creek, and other systems.

  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with the TPA Manager for oversight and resolution for external vendors and partners, including TPAs and MGAs.

  • Communication and Leadership: Communicate with peers, senior managers, and stakeholders across Munich Re to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.

  • Reporting: Collaborate with the Transformation and Data team to create reports as needed. Review reports and provide transparency into the work being done by the team, escalate issues as needed, and propose solutions based on the data reviewed.

  • Travel will be up to 25%, primarily between Princeton and Philadelphia offices to visit teams

  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, leveraging strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure alignment and satisfaction.

  • Insurance Product Knowledge: Possess a solid understanding of insurance products and be able to articulate this knowledge both verbally and in writing.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required

  • 5+ years of experience in the P&C industry, Claims Operations, Process improvement or equivalent is required

  • 5+ years' experience in a management role is strongly preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt a plus

The Company is open to considering candidates in Philadelphi, PA; Princton, NJ and numerous locations, including NYC and Chicago. The salary range posted below reflects market variations across various locations. This role is designated for either Chicago or NYC and reflects multiple geographies. The offer will be adjusted per geography.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $99,700 - $166,100 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations, with the with the higher end being more aligned with the New York City job market. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
