JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Ambulatory Financial Planning will support and lead the financial planning and analysis activities for UT Southwestern Ambulatory Operations. The Ambulatory Operations portfolio has expanded over the past 3 years with additional growth anticipated over the next 3-5 years. There are 7 regional multi-specialty locations to include primary care. Additionally, there are several traditional departments that run clinics that are in transition to Health System Operations leadership which will increase the portfolio for this role. Directs the creation of financial analysis for service mix at existing locations as well as planning for new opportunities. Collaborates with Revenue Cycle leadership to identify revenue enhancement opportunities to include clinical documentation and coding. Leads a team of 2 managers, a supervisor and staff to provide the financial reporting and variance analysis to Operations leadership. Presents financial data at quarterly specialty specific and site-specific meetings to Chairs, faculty and other leaders with the goal of identifying opportunities for improvement. Financial presentations must tell the story behind the numbers in a clear and concise manner. Collaborates with ambulatory operations leaders, department leaders and finance teams to direct the annual Ambulatory Operations budget process within the UTSW Medical Group. Prepares quarterly financial projections for all ambulatory operations for presentation and review by senior leadership.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field


  • Experience
    10 years related financial or budgetary analysis experience in large/complex organizations


Preferred



  • Education
    Master's Degree in a related field


  • Experience
    Experience in healthcare and CPA designation


JOB DUTIES



  • Directs the budget and financial analysis for the UTSW Ambulatory Operations to include providing monthly actual to budget variance explanations. Proactively work with the various finance teams to ensure variances are reasonable and provide investigative support to provide appropriate feedback to UTSW Ambulatory leadership.
  • Directs monthly financial projections for ambulatory operations to provide timely analysis to UTSW Ambulatory leaders for decision making.
  • In partnership with Ambulatory Operations leadership, develop data analytics, ad hoc reporting, and KPI's for timely decision making.
  • Directs the annual budget process for all aspects of Ambulatory Operations to include acting as the liaison with the Central Budget Office to ensure accurate budget plans are produced annually. Provide Ambulatory Operations 6-year projection for submission to UT System.
  • Directs all adhoc financial analysis and reporting for the Ambulatory Operations and ensure consistent methodology is applied for potential expansion and new faculty recruitment.
  • Directs financial analysis to determine FMV utilizing the appropriate benchmarks to support contract negotiations. Stay abreast of any Medicare or other changes that may affect reporting using benchmark data. Partners with the Physician Billing Revenue Cycle team to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversees the work of financial managers and staff. Provides feedback, coaching, and opportunities for career development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
