Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant with a proven background in accounting and financial reporting, preferably within a professional services environment. This role will focus on managing the firm's general ledger, preparing financial reports, and overseeing various accounting functions, including payroll, fixed assets, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills and a deep understanding of financial management to the team.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee Fredrikson & Byron's general ledger, ensuring accurate journal entries, coordinating the close cycle, balancing the time/billing system with the ledger, and preparing financial reports.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with HR's payroll and benefits areas, ensuring accurate recording of general ledger activities for these areas.
  • Manage the firm's profit-sharing accrual, ensuring all participants have the correct amount accrued at fiscal year-end, in accordance with firm policies.
  • Provide comprehensive support for the annual audit financial review, including preparing necessary documentation and reconciling account balances.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and provide monthly analysis.
  • Oversee the accounting for the firm's fixed assets, including calculating related depreciation and managing depreciation schedules in the fixed asset software.
  • Manage all accounting tasks related to the Fredrikson & Byron Foundation, including reconciling the foundation's bank account and coordinating its audits.
  • Review and monitor internal controls to develop process improvements and drive efficiencies across the Finance Department.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and provide standard financial analyses for HR, Marketing, and other departments as needed.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and perform variance reviews to ensure financial health and compliance.
  • Take on other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager to support the firm's financial needs.

Our Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ year of experience in accounting, with a focus on general ledger management, financial reporting, and accounting for fixed assets.
  • CPA preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and audit preparation.
  • Experience with accounting software and financial systems (experience with time/billing systems is a plus).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a hybrid work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days in the Minneapolis office each week.

The salary range for this position varies by geographical market. In Minneapolis, the estimated starting annual pay range is $80,000 - $105,000 per year. The compensation offered will be dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, education, professional background, overall qualifications, and geographic market location.
