Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant with a proven background in tax compliance, financial analysis, and accounting processes. This role will focus on managing and overseeing the firm's tax-related activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, and providing accurate financial information to business partners. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tax accounting, including corporate income tax preparation, sales and use tax management, and tax audits, along with a strong knowledge of relevant industry regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Regularly review and update tax policies and procedures to reflect changes in tax laws and business operations. Stay current with industry trends to improve tax processes.
  • Manage sales and use tax payments using Chrome River and ensure timely filing for applicable states monthly.
  • Review transactions in the firm's ERP system (Elite 3E) for tax implications, including new vendor setup and trust disbursements.
  • Review and manage corporate income tax preparations, filings, and payments, and handle estimated income tax payments.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits conducted by external auditors. Provide necessary documentation for timely completion.
  • Oversee state tax audits, coordinate with tax authorities, and implement corrective actions to mitigate future risks.
  • Manage the issuance and filing of 1099 forms, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations and deadlines.
  • Prepare and review internal tax-related reports to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with HR and the finance team to validate payroll taxes and ensure accurate calculation and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls related to tax and general ledger processes.
  • Assist with full-cycle accounting responsibilities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and the coordination of the close cycle.

Our Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in tax accounting, with a strong background in corporate income tax, sales and use tax, and tax audits.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales, payroll, and corporate income taxes.
  • Proficiency with tax software, including Chrome River and ERP systems such as Elite 3E.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret tax regulations and apply them to the firm's operations.
  • Experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • A proactive, professional attitude with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and firm standards.

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days in the Minneapolis office each week.

The salary range for this position varies by geographical market. In Minneapolis, the estimated starting annual pay range is $80,000 - $105,000/year. The compensation offered will be dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, education, professional background, overall qualifications, and geographic market location.
