Controller Job Summary Essential Duties and Responsibilities General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts, ensuring proper accounting treatment for transactions in compliance with company policies and GAAP. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements), analyzing variances and providing actionable insights to management. Cost Accounting: Work closely with the production and operations teams to track and analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, overhead, and inventory. Assist in cost allocation and variance analysis. Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with department heads to gather relevant data, ensure budget compliance, and assess financial performance against targets. Internal Controls: Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate policies, financial regulations, and industry standards. Accounts payable/receivable, as well as payroll Month-End and Year-End Close: Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results. Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audit and financial review. Inventory Management: Monitor and reconcile inventory records, ensuring accurate valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations. Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Education, Skills, and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting required. At least 3 years' experience in accounting including similar responsibilities. Understanding of oversees accounting Proficient knowledge of B/S and P&L. Account reconciliation experience. Strong mathematical, technical and analytical skills. Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to read and analyze financial reports. Must have a strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system plus the ability to learn company used applications.
