Role with the company:
The Tax Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the company's tax compliance, tax planning, and tax reporting processes. This includes ensuring compliance with all tax laws, minimizing tax liabilities through strategic planning, and providing guidance to the organization on tax-related matters. The Tax Manager will also collaborate with the Corporate Finance team and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
Responsibilities
States & Federal Tax
  • Liaise with external tax advisors, manage the CPA firm that does the tax work.
  • Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns performed by CPA firm.
  • Maintain documentation to support tax positions.
  • Manage the calculation and communication of quarterly estimates.
Sales/Use/Excise Tax
  • Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of and payment on all tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Analyze products, services, & transactions to determine proper taxability and ensure accurate tax rates are applied.
  • Ensure compliance with proper taxability and accurate tax rates are applied with varying state and local tax laws.
  • Conduct research on sales and use tax regulations to ensure compliance with new or changing laws.
  • Manage the sales/use tax and property responsibilities for multiple legal entities within the organization, which includes timely filing of all tax returns, managing tax audits, researching taxability and registrations.
Real & Personal Property
  • Report accurate list of assets to consultants for property renditions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments are remitted.
Process Improvement:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain tax calendars, procedures, and processes to manage various tax reporting and payment requirements within the respective deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of tax data.

Background profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a combination of both.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and international tax regulations and tax accounting principles, including experience preparing and reviewing returns
  • Experience coordinating tax preparation with outside CPA firm, including documentation and communication.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws.
  • Strong ability to analyze, reconcile, and interpret datasets related to tax filings and accruals.
  • Experience in a growing business, adapting to improve processes to allow for further growth
  • Effectively prioritize tasks and meet tight filing deadlines.
  • Strong tax experience with the drive to jump in and hit the ground running
  • Strategic thinking and attention to detail with focus on accuracy.
  • Process improvement & analytical mindset with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions
  • Team Player; Collaborate with various internal customers and external CPA firm.
  • Strong use of Excel and spreadsheet tools
