Job Summary

The Accountant position is responsible for the development and execution of monthly financial statements with comparison to budgets and forecasts. This position provides company leaders with monthly statistics, financial information, and develops monthly forecast to fulfill both internal and external requirements. This position ensures accuracy in the allocations of organization costs to all Lines of Business (LOBs) and compiles, consolidates, and analyzes financial data for the production of financial statements and reports, to identify trends, to research variances and areas of concerns, to develop cost projections, and to present the results to various levels of management and internal/external customers.


Essential Functions
Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements (which may include cash flow status and HIGLAS reporting) for Board of Directors, company leaders, Cash Committee, and external customers.
  • Prepares asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information, this includes expense accrual entries as needed.
  • Prepares and finalizes financial deliverables for government contracts and responds directly to questions or requests for more information regarding deliverables.
  • Ensures all data and reports are documented and retained for audit purposes.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and other accounts upon request.
  • May track assets in compliance with the capitalization policy for purposes of financial reporting, insurance coverage, security, and theft deterrence.
  • Completes and maintains reporting to be viewed by senior leadership.
  • Develops and analyzes cost allocations made to the various organization LOBs.
  • Monitors vendor contracts and updates salary tables for contingent workers. Prepares associated labor data table uploads to allow for productivity reporting.
  • Monitors cash transactions from bank to book, prepares and reviews complex monthly bank reconciliations, creates and maintains spreadsheets of deposit and EFT/check activity, and researches any variances.
  • May gather and prepare monthly MAC and non-MAC vouchers with a high level of accuracy, responds to customer questions and provides additional analysis as needed.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • May review and compile monthly Complimentary Credits and accurately records them in the general ledger
  • Easily shifts workload to accommodate for unexpected new assignments that are time sensitive.
  • Ability to research and analyze business patterns from data
  • Ability to use financial tools to forecast
  • Ability to present information effectively with recommendations to management


Non-Essential Duties and Functions

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May cross train in other accounting functions to provide backup support.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, OR equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Significant analytical skills needed to review actual, historical, and forward trending costs


Preferred Qualifications
Above requirements and the following

  • 2 years' experience in accounting, finance,
  • Government contracting, cost accounting, or financial intelligence system experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Accounting certification
  • Knowledge of HIGLAS
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight timelines

Below is the salary range for potential new hires.

Salary Range: $45,321.96 - $74,542.39

Other Compensation: Self-Managed PTO (if applicable), Incentive Plan

Lifestyle Benefit: $50/month
