Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated degreed Electrical Engineer with high voltage experience to develop system repair designs, system calibration, and installation plans that allow for operations to continue. The selected candidate will work closely the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC), High Voltage System Manager and the Facilities engineering and design group.

This involves working closely with the NASA GRC High Voltage System Manager, project managers, project design engineers, research operational personnel and maintenance staff. Responsibilities include performing power system studies, field engineering throughout the Glenn campus, commissioning of new or upgraded facilities, development and review of design packages, and other technical support to the NASA facilities staff as needed.

Individual shall have experience in High Voltage Industrial Power Systems with voltage of 2. 4kV through 13.8kV including but not limited to the following:

    Power system studies including short circuit analysis, protective relay coordination and settings, and arc-flash hazard analysis
  • Experience in the design and planning of high voltage systems infrastructure such as distribution cables, control systems, protective relaying, transformers, switchgear, substations, alarms, and overall system coordination.
  • Field engineering experience including troubleshooting/site investigations, and associated engineering solutions.
  • Written and oral presentations to personnel with technical or non-technical background.
  • Review of systems drawings to assure design compliance with technical codes, standards, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Development of red-lined drawings as applicable to provide input of required system changes.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel)
  • US Citizenship
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiar with AutoCAD software
  • Familiar with NFPA Codes and IEEE standards

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
