S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Staff Accountant to become part of our Finance team out of our headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. Join S&ME today and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients!

What You Will Do:

As a Staff Accountant, you will manage a broad range of accounting functions in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including conducting account reconciliations, handling local tax filings, preparing journal entries, managing general ledger accruals, and overseeing period-end and month-end close processes. You will be involved in financial reporting and offering technical advice to operational leaders during annual budget planning. Success in this position requires a proven track record in implementing standards, leading change, exhibiting leadership, and driving results to align with the company's strategic goals.

• Account Reconciliations and Journal Entries: Conduct account reconciliations and prepare journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
• Tax Filings and Compliance: Handle local tax filings, prepare annual property tax returns, and file sales and use tax returns.
• General Ledger and Period-End Close: Manage general ledger accruals and oversee period-end and month-end close processes.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Contribute to financial reporting, analysis, and projections, and support the annual budgeting process.
• Support and Training: Provide financial support and training to various team members, develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, and address discrepancies with senior management.

Who You Are:

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• You have a minimum of 3 years of General Ledger experience
• You have proven Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) knowledge and experience
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office and financial software programs
