Intern - International Tax

JOB SUMMARY

Seaboard Corporation, a diversified and vertically integrated agribusiness and ocean transportation company, currently has an opening for a Tax Intern. This position is located in Merriam, Kansas at corporate headquarters. .

The Tax Intern will work as part of a team responsible for U.S. federal and state tax compliance, audits, and provisions (ASC 740), as well as tax modeling and planning. This position includes both U.S. federal tax provision and compliance work as well as U.S. international federal tax provision and compliance work. This position reports to the SR International Tax Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform various tax compliance activities, including preparation of workpapers and preparation of Federal Forms 1120/5471/8858 using Corptax compliance software.
• Preparation of quarterly domestic income tax provision calculations.
• Review quarterly ASC 740 financial reporting schedules.
• Assist with research of tax technical issues as they arise in the ordinary course of business or are identified during the development of tax planning alternatives and perform other tax research as required.
• Assist with special projects as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

• Willingness to learn Corptax compliance software.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills.
• Interest in working with U.S. international tax provisions including but not limited to GILTI, BEAT, Subpart F, 163(j), and FTC is preferred.
• Interest in working with tax provision requirements under US GAAP ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) is preferred.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and Word -some familiarity with Microsoft Access and Power Point.
• Demonstrable problem-solving capability, quantitative and analytical skills.
• Self-starter with strong desire to learn, ability to multi-task and focus on details.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a drive to deliver outstanding results with a positive attitude towards work and challenge.
