Now hiring a Tax Accountant with experience in New Mexico State and Local Tax! Presbyterian is seeking a Tax Accountant for New Mexico State & Local Tax. The Tax Accountant will be working with System Tax Director, ensure timely compliance with all state and local tax filings for Presbyterian Healthcare Services and its affiliates; including New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax; various states, Payroll Withholding and Unemployment Insurance returns; property taxes, unclaimed property; and other areas as assigned. Ideal Candidate: Bachelors degree required, Accounting emphasis preferred. 2 years experience with New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax and state payroll taxes with an accounting firm, a governmental agency, or a large business.

Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of taxation work under readily available direction, may be involved in some complex assignments.
- Educate and assist Accounts Payable, Finance Staff and Managers with accrual of New Mexico Compensating Tax.
- Calculate and file monthly New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax returns.
- Work with ADP system, ensure continuous compliance with all state payroll tax returns
- May specialize in various aspects of tax accounting, such as laws applying to healthcare services and health insurance.
- Provide support to Payroll with employee tax-related inquiries, Accounts Payable in all 1099-related inquires and with annual 1099 filings, and other business units as needed in state and local tax matters.
- Assist in reconciling all tax-related General Ledger Accounts
- Coordinate the preparation of tax returns, examines accounts, and calculates taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations by required deadlines.
- File all Personal Property Tax returns and follow-up with Tax Authorities as needed.
- Support the Real Estate Department in all Real Property Tax challenges
- Prepare and carry out initial investigations into tax issues.
- Independently researches and analyzes key issues to assist the Department Director.
- May lead a variety of assignments, clarifying objectives, determining the principles and techniques to be employed
- Provide financial accounting staff with technical tax advice and assistance in tax matters as necessary.
- Corresponds and negotiates with governmental revenue agencies at a tactical level.
- Prepare reports and studies for management as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
