PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Tax Organization leadership is committed to training and mentoring team members in a wide variety of tax issues, facilitating the professional and technical development of each team member. This job contributes to Owens Corning's success by performing tax research & developing tax forecasting models, preparing responses to federal / state audits, supporting domestic planning initiatives that provide cash tax savings, and assisting with transfer pricing compliance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowing Our Businesses and their Strategies



  • Build relationships within the Tax organization, cross-functionally, and with key stakeholders; ensure effective contact to remain aligned with functional objectives
  • Understand the strategic direction of the company's businesses and execute functional strategies to support and enhance business results; be knowledgeable of the project work that supports this direction and implications to the business
  • Understands the relationships with our customers and understands what it takes to ensure their success
  • Know what best-in-class Tax organizations do and obtain outside-in market insights to understand and then apply to positively impact Owens Corning



Executing Strategy



  • Execute strategies related to federal and state tax audits, including providing supporting analysis and tax research
  • Lead state income and franchise tax audits process, including providing timely responses, tracking information data requests, and updating team leadership on status of audits
  • Assist with the defense of U.S. federal tax audits, including providing timely responses in support of IRS informational data requests
  • Develop and maintain forecasting models, to include cash tax forecasting and new tax laws / regulations
  • Support cash tax savings initiatives to include: assessing potential opportunities, coordinating with third-party advisors, and contributing to execution / implementation
  • Analyze global intercompany transactions and prepare / maintain contemporaneous documentation in accordance with transfer pricing guidelines
  • Support transfer pricing benchmarking study projects to determine arm's length pricing for intercompany transactions
  • Provide support on special projects and other income tax functions, as needed, to include: federal income tax compliance, state income tax compliance, and quarterly / annual income tax provision
  • Communicate tax positions and developments effectively - verbally, and in writing
  • Identify and coordinate implementation of process improvement

  • Inspires teamwork across staff functions and other business groups to maximize the performance of the Tax function
  • Communicates effectively with global finance and tax leaders to increase the teamwork across the finance function; encourage team members to communicate new ideas or processes to enhance all aspects of the Tax function

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications



  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related area required; CPA certification preferred
  • 3-5 years relevant tax experience required; public accounting experience preferred
  • Corporate federal income tax experience required; state/local income tax experience preferred
  • International tax experience preferred, to include GILTI, FDII, Subpart F, and Foreign Tax Credit calculations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced Excel preferred
  • Knowledge of compliance and provision software (Corptax and OneSource is desired), tax research software (RIA Checkpoint, CCH, BNA research tools are desired) and/or general ledger software (SAP desired)
