About the Job

A full-time (100% FTE) Research Coordination-Generalist position is open at the U of M TeleOutreach Service Hub at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB) to support research service requests that include intervention delivery and remote connections. The TeleOutreach Hub at MIDB is focused on the use of telehealth technology innovation to improve access to and quality of support for developmental, behavioral health, and emotional services and supports in childhood, youth, and across the lifespan. This position collaborates closely with the teams within MIDB including collaboration with the TeleOutreach Center in the Institute on Community Integration and the College of Education and Human Development, and the College of Extension. This position will also support a study funded by the Department of Defense.

About the Position

The Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB) is dedicated to fostering the healthy brain function of children across the lifespan with the mission to set and maintain a healthy trajectory for all children toward positive life outcomes through early neurobehavioral and mental health assessment, innovative targeted interventions, informed policymaking, compassionate child-advocacy, and community education. The MIDB's mission of basic and clinical research in the field of neurobehavioral development is supported by multiple service hubs including: TeleOutreach, Analytics, Informatics, Neuroimaging, Center for Neurobehavioral Development, Translational Neuroscience, Neuromodulation, and Community Engagement and Education.

The Research Professional 2 is to provide support for the University of Minnesota Telehealth Innovation site of the A Research Collaboratory to Explore Best Practices for Expanding Access to Care Through Expansion and Support of Telehealth Care for Children and Families with Behavioral Health Needs ("Telehealth Research Collaboratory"). This position requires superior organizational, communication, problem-solving, training and technical support,and data collection and management skills, as well as intervention delivery and/or service navigation to support children with autism and related neurodevelopmental disabilities or related behavioral health needs and their families, experience preferably with use of telehealth modalities.

Job Responsibilities:

Clinical, Training, and Technical-Assistance, and Research Related Intervention Responsibilities (50%)

  • Implement coaching and intervention research activities with children, families, provider organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitor effective education, training and technical assistance processes related to early or school age intervention.
  • Manage work plans, timelines and resources to meet project goals.
  • Conduct training and outreach events (teleconferences, webinars, meetings, etc. ) for diverse audiences including state and federal department of education staff, educators, clinical providers, military connected advocacy organizations, parents, and researchers.
  • Provide timely reporting on project to supervisor and team.
  • Assist in maintaining databases within the TeleOutreach project, including requirements for privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with developing sustainable networks to increase access to intervention pathways for children, adolescents and families across regions of the State.

Outreach Development (25%)

  • Work with the Primary Investigator (PI) and investigative team to implement project specific outreach activities related to research, training, and technical assistance pathways to expand the reach of intervention for children with or at risk for neurodevelopmental disabilities in Minnesota.
  • Engage in state initiatives and networks for expansion and outreach across Minnesota.
  • Work with local and extension stakeholders, University project PI, staff, faculty, and students to strategically engage in outreach and expansion activities related to TeleOutreach and utilization of existing resources and partnerships across regions in Minnesota.
  • Foster and develop teamwork that builds a sustainable partnership between the program, participants and communities.
  • Engage in development activities, coordination and provision of training and technical assistance for future project sites.
  • Travel to and engage with future and current community sites and teams.
  • Interact with national and local/state leadership personnel and advisory boards related to project activities and outcomes.

Operational and Project Coordination Responsibilities (25%)

  • Assist in the coordination of research, working closely with Project Coordinators, training and technical assistance projects, including the ability to organize information, coordinate team members, meet project aims in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to and support Project Coordinators in development of documents for Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements for research projects.
  • Assist in conducting events (teleconferences, webinars, meetings, etc.) for diverse audiences including state and federal department of education staff, educators, parents and researchers.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences, communities of practice and advisory panels where research and policy finding are disseminated, and information is gathered for future research and technical assistance.
  • Assist with summarizing and reviewing project data to inform project decisions, research, training and technical assistance dissemination.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in education, educational psychology, special education, child development, psychology, social work, public health, curriculum and instruction or related field plus at least two years of professional experience or an advanced degree with two years of professional experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least six years.
  • Experience with disability or behavioral health field in delivering intervention to children, youth, or families.
  • Ability to travel within Minnesota and nationally (e.g., 1-3 days/month, varied across months).
  • Clinical or educational experience related to early and/or school-aged intervention with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work onsite at the University of Minnesota MIDB for a minimum of three days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4-6 years of clinical or educational experience related to early and/or school-aged intervention with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
  • Credentials or certifications achieved related to early or school-aged intervention (e.g., Registered Behavior Technician, Speech Language Pathologist, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the work of multiple organizations and individuals to work toward the achievement of common goals.
  • Experience with state, lead agency, and/or healthcare systems and intervention pathways for children with or at higher likelihood for neurodevelopmental disabilities and/or behavioral health needs.
  • Experience with data collection systems, systematic assessments.
  • Experience in supporting rural, military-connected, and/or linguistically diverse populations.

Pay Range: $55k-$60k; depending on education/qualifications/experience
